What are Virtual Servers?
NetSecurer Virtual Servers and Virtual Desktops run in the virtual environment created by the Citrix XenServer hypervisor, this provides all hardware assignment to the virtual systems, as resource slices taken from the physical hardware. A Virtual Server or Desktop is an actual server or desktop running within a virtual envoirnment as if it was operating on its own hardware. All Virtual server and desktops are separated by the inherent features of the hypervisor. While the Virtual Server provides services via the physical or virtual network to connecting users, the Virtual Desktops are streamed to thin or thick clients connected as the workstations where users access the resources and other functions as normal desktops.
Thin clients are best for Virtual Desktops, because they use less power and are more resilient to hardware failure. This is simple because most of the parts which contributes to hardware failure are not found in thin client terminals. Hardware failures can be caused by moving parts such as fans, so the thin client terminals are fan-less and therefore use components that generate little or no heat; and others like hard drives which are not necessary because the user desktop is in the datacenter which itself allocates storage as needed.
